Sexual colors

Brazilian born, São Paulo based  photographer Gabriel Wickbold is 27 years old and self taught, ”I picked up some tips from my photographer friends, and made a research laboratory in my studio,” he recalls. “Every day I discover how to do different kinds of lighting. But for me, it’s about much more than the perfect lighting setup. It’s about the perfect vibe.” His bright color palette and passionate sexual energy  scream the joy of our Brazilian nationality, Brazil is pure rawness with a sense of pride in the artistic half naked bodies scattered throughout. There is not much puritan thinking down there, and Wickbold’s wet, sticky series showcases it really well!

You have to take risks. We will only understand the miracle of life fully if when we allow the unexpected to happen. Paulo Coelho (Brazilian writer)

Funny objects in real life

Terry Border’s photo blog Bent Objects, begun in 2006, anthropomorphizes inanimate objects using bits of wire and a few props. He creates scintillating inner lives for the ordinary things that most of us take for granted. Originally, Border says, his bent-object sculptures and photo scenes came about almost by accident. He studied photography in school and initially made his living as a commercial photographer. When that grew old he tried cartooning, then landed in sculpture.

All objects, all phases of culture are alive. They have voices. They speak of their history and interrelatedness. And they are all talking at once! Camille Paglia
